Funny you should say that. I did the wheels on my XJ 550 with smoothrite. They came up absolutly fantastic and cleaning them was a piece of cake. Think it might have been a 1inch brush though, I'm not a complete animal

The hotbodies underseat had taken a battering not only from stones but also when the badly positioned number plate hit the hugger in a big dip smashing hugger , plate and underseat in the process so i decided it was time to strengthen the unit with some ABS sheet and a plastic welding gun from work. Also cut away the trough for the virtically mounted ECU as not needed on the SP1 for a cleaner look Then all P38'd up and sanded ready for high build primer. May well completely ditch the OEM battery holder so the extra ABS will support

will respray with cheapo Halfords silver as exact match not need and RS paint is too pricey and pretty shit

result just won a brand new cylinder head with valves (no cams or cover) off ebay in Germany for £135 delivered and an exhaust cam for £60. bargain me thinks so now just need to send them off to Roger to weave his magic of porting and flowing plus re profile the cam. After consultation with him i have decided to put the standard compression pistons back in with new rings as the Wiseco pistons i had fitted were too high compression he concluded that i would probably not notice any loss in performance. This is assuming the bores are ok, if not then additional cost of a re bore and oversize pistons so fingers crossed. Once i have all the bits back i can strip and re build at my leisure.

well thanks to you mate it will be the new engine going in but it will be nice to get the old mill up and running again, and i have the spares to keep this bike going way past my ability to swing a leg over it!

Fookin typical! as you can see from the above picture of the cylinder head it is clearly a front head but ive been sent the rear instead from Germany. However, two days ago i stripped out the cams from the rear head on my bike to find them and the journals slightly scored as well. it may be that this head is useless as well. My plan now is to send both heads off to Roger for his input, and if he says they are both fooked then this new rear head c/w valves and cams (for only £130) will be used and i have bought another (front head) from the Krauts for (£130) this one with only the valves (but i allready have the exhaust cam). basically with just one inlet cam to buy for the front i will be able to re build a standard engine, or if the rear head is ok then get the front head ported etc.
it now appears that the original fault could be oil pump related so this will be checked thoroughly.
