Well i tough i would keep you lot informed on what im doing along with a few picture's.
I have decided to take my SP1 off the road and turn it in to a track bike. I done some track on it last year and loved it and having it sitting there and not getting the use of it im going to run it on the track only. I know i know run and hide before the stoning starts. But unless you have rode your SP on the track your not aloud to give out to me. Now all the good bits have been takin off and put away. all the plastics lights and even the very light and sexy Ethos exhausts. So heres a few pictures of what ive done so far.
Now i have set a bit of a dead line here as i have booked my first track day in for 18th march. so a little over a week. :auto-sportbike:
From this.

And then an hour later this sad lump sat in the shed.

I trimmed the rear mudguard a bit more so i could get the straight finish under the rear cowl.

Happy with that seen as i still have some of the OEM mudguard in there to hold down the power commander and i have rerouted the wiring to allow the ECU to flip over and sit in behind the battery. So thats in and strapped down.
Next on the list was the rear seat cowl. The bike always had a race cowl on it but it had been broke in two places and covered with stickers so out with the fiberglass and repaired them.(i hate sanding so not 100% perfect) then i sprayed it white along with a cracked front mudguard i had also repaired.
The reason im going white is i have ordered a race fairing from ebay and it will be white.

When i fitted the rear cowl there was a big gaping hole under the rear section where the mudguard had been cut so of the the local glazer and got some perspex cut it out to fill the hole and a few screws in place to hold it in.

Refitted my old rattley cans. They will need repacking some time but will do for now.
Removed the handle bar switch. Wont need it.
Image
Fitted a set of R&G fork proctors along with the mudguard

and that's it for tonight. Hoping the fairings get here soon. Looking forward to getting them on.
So this is how it looks so far.

Its not just me then
I did it to my Firestorm a couple of years back and instead of taking the cans off I started my Duke II up with the end caps off so it had twin 5inch bore pipes on!!!!!! :o :o
I'd still do it again though

Thanks Martin.

Well the fairings have arrived in. They took a bit of light filing here and there around the rads but there on. Now there not painted yet but I won't have time to do it before Sunday so this is it along with a role of red tape I found before the fairings where fitted.

First outing this Sunday so let's hope for some dry weather.
