http://s872.photobucket.com/albums/ab28 ... e%20blues/ Orrible dark nights mean I can get on with the re build. Not sure about refitting the original zorst system, do not like the rear downpipe gasket joint adjacent the shock. Despite carefully removing the system and cleaning and fettling the sockets and spigots, purchasing new leaded band gaskets , gasket rings, Mikalor ss band clamps with ss bolts I am thinking of cutting off the socket from the rear link pipe preparing mating ends and having a pucker weld job done here, anyone done this ? and photies would be helpful.

Lots of cleaning and faffing, alarm removal and harness restoration, (Spyball Patriot now in skip where it belonged in the first instance) all panels fettled and lacquered, manufacturer fastenings purchased, old probolt gold shxte in with my recycle (lets hope they make something useful with it this time) small indies gone, dark double bubble gone, tail tidy gone. Pillion pad, indies, rear mudguard, tail light, clear screen, manuals, handbooks and KayandheNs purchased. Still on original factory fitted chain and sprockets, even managed to get a main link for the chain :) It got a look over then a 12k service from my local technician all fluids replaced, new plugs. All in all I am dead happy with it even though with hindsight I think I should have negotiated harder and got something knocked off for all the heinous aftermarket crap that was fitted ( especially that alarm installation "How to fcuk up a perfectely good harness")

So you will have guessed I like my bikes wi nowt tekken owt :)

:) Certainly is. incidentally I fitted the zorst system back NOT as per manufacturer spec. I think a problem with those leaded band gaskets failing prematurely (as posted on this site) may be due to incorrect alignment and deforming the gasket when inserting the spigot. I assembled mine loose off the bike making sure the gaskets were seated properly and that the spigots did not unevenly crush or squish the gasket.

I then attached the rear header and link pipe( with the band clamp hand tight) on to the studs and nipped up the nuts on to the studs. I then offered up the remainder inserting it carefully on to the rear down pipe spigot and then inserted the front pipe into its hole. I tightened everything up making sure for true alignment. I will let you all know if it blows prematurely, if it does then a weld will happen.

That rear header is not exactly state of the art pipe fabrication, even by standards of 12 years ago?

Hmm! Interesting.
that very same gasket blows on the Firestorm too. Admittedly I just put it down the the heat generated and the constant expansion and contraction of the larger diameter pipe. You could be onto something there you'll have to keep us posted  Good luck.
