I ain't an old codger yet, despite what my mates tell me, but I fitted heated grips to my bike, and fricking awesome they are too! I went out on the 2nd of January, in my summer gloves, and as long as my hands are warm, I find they tend to pump warm blood through me, so I just don't get cold at all any more...!
