gearing......

Postby VVTR » Sat Jul 28, 2012 11:05 pm

just wondering what gearing you guys are using - front & rear sprocket sizing like....

after havig my licence decorated 3 times this year already i decided to reduce the top end a bit and lower the cruise speed, and also make it a bit more rideable in the 30s & 40s....

currently im running 15 / 41 which is one less front & rear and it feels really nice.
great fun to ride and its a lot easier to keep it under a ton.

still goes well up top like but obviously i have to wind it on whereas before i was looking at the speedo and thinking sheeeeeet!!!

also fitted a tiny little speedo healer from 12 oclock labs... very neat unit and easy to install & set up.
offset was -9.55% with standard gearing and -17.60 with the 15/41 combo.

one of these -

its the H1 model for the sp - just clips inline with the speed sensor (under the front seat)

There have been reports of a few single cylinder SP1's lately ;)

@VVTR, That makes sense to me

I don't think many of us really need bikes geared for 170 MPH.

The 30 zones are a real pain, Very hard to stick to any speed limit on these bikes :auto-sportbike:

Bloomin hell Steve, You should have gone pillion on the scooter :D

Running standard gearing here, Mainly just use second and third gear for the local roads.

Might consider going lower next sprocket change
