Flush undertray fitting whats involved????

just went to see whats involved in fitting a flush undertray i have there good while
and noticed that i basically have to cut away half the original undertray and do away with the only support bolts that support the whole lot including the battery carrier
so what do i do to support the battery????

The best way is to cut the fender following the inner subframe rails (very easy if the fender is completely removed).
Then the fender is fully supported and retains the relay mounts (for SP2).

I used some leftover plastic scrap to fashion additional rear mount tabs for the undertray.

Then secured the mount tabs to the undertray and fender mount web.

Then undertray can be mounted to the fender using whatever fasteners you wish.
From aluminum screws and nylocks, to plastic body clips, to Dzus fasteners.

Yes I noticed since then you have an SP1.
Hopefully, others with an SP1 will chime in with their technique on undertray install that can provide adequate undertray support.

thanks dude i had not noticed until your pics that the subframes are differant between the 1 and 2 :thumbup:

i have seen flush undertrays on sp1s so it is possible somehow

Hey dude, Just dropping my 2p in but I've got one on mine so can get some pics if you want - but the battery looks like it's attached to the remaining parts of the original, which has been cut from the battery back, and then the flat undertray just meets it. I've always wondered why!

It's then held on with brackets that attach to the rear footpegs which might've been fabricated, all if this was on the bike when I bought it.

To be honest I wanna put mine back to standard as it's a bit if a mess (blaming the previous owner for that one!)

Ps this means that when I swap the pipes over for high level ones and do away with the footpegs, the undertray us held on by just the indicator wires! So crazy as it seems I think you're right, gotta lose the only supports.

I don't think it's worth it!

Also just to clarify - when I say held on by wires only I mean when the tail plastics are off and so are the exhausts and footpegs, so just temporarily

cheers ob yes it does look like it needs a bracket fabricated alright
gonna strip it in cuppla weeks and see what way im gonna make these brackets
