SP1 Coil Mod????

Postby smudge » Fri Jun 05, 2015 9:57 am

Hi Guys
Do any of you know where I can get some coils for my SP1. Don't really want to buy the cheap ones off ebay and Honda have no stock until August. A friend of mine said some of the SP1 owners have done a mod. Something to do with fireblade coils. Anyone heard of this. Apparently SP1's are prone for coils failing and power commander feed wires coming loose?

I've done the mod on my SP2 mate. I used cbr600rr 2005 plug top coils and you need the coil harness as well then make two wire lòms to replace the ht leads.

Personally I think it starts easier and seems to run smoother

Thanks guys,
you hear so much crap or sales jargon, it's good to hear from someone who's actually done it.
I've often wondered about "splitfire " plugs or removing the suppression resistors for a bigger spark. Do they really do anything or do they just cover up a problem which needed fixing?
