SuperCool Coolant??

Has anyone ever tried this or something like in their SP's?
I cant be arsed with changing fans and stuff :lol:

yep Bobba, i tried Engine Ice last year and it didnt make any noticable difference or maybe just 1-2 degrees but not enough to spend on mate. Best thing is to take that bin liner off that blew onto your V cowel three years ago :thumbup:

I've no need to Steve as I just ripped some holes in it to let the cold in :thumbup:
What joy did you get with your pusher fan in the end? I might look at this mod for spring if yours has been ok

haven't got round to fitting it yet mate or the lower temp switch, but ive still got the reversed OEM fan on anyway so nearly as good. :thumbup:

reversed as in just swapped the wires round so it spins the other way?
Do I need to do anything else? I'm only asking as while I'm dumping the oil I was thinking of doing the coolant too :think:
I'd looked at the fairing fins but am just waiting for someone to make some cheaper version out of fibreglass ;)

Be careful swapping the wires round as if you do it in the wrong place you put live down to ground and blow fuses :cry: You have to cut the two black wires going to the motor on the fan itself and swap them there. Also its a good idea to turn the fan blades round as they are more efficient in one direction, this will involve spacing the fan legs off with washers otherwise the blades clip the rad.

How much of a difference did it make to yours as surely with your tuning work it'll run hotter anyway?

are you sure there's any point bobba?
Just playin devil's advocate, but I'm in London so slow moving sometimes and bike gets hot, but the fan cuts in a 103 and does its job just fine, temp drops and as soon as I'm on the move it plummets - bog standard coolant and standard fan and switch etc, might not be worth the hassle dude! or maybe just a lower temp thermo switch for the fan?

It might be worth either fitting a switch, or just simply linking out the thermal switch so the fan runs all the time. By the time it gets to overheat and the fan kicks in its difficult to pull the temp back down so if its hot out there keep it on. My CB1000 started to cook two years ago when caught in traffic even with the fan running, and I had to do some fast filtering to get it down, I thought she was going to burst.

I thought I was going to die anorl with the heat from both the sun and the bastid cars and trucks. Quite strange so it was, because all the car drivers were getting cooked they seemed to want to stop me filtering.

there may well be no benefit normally but i have fitted some Durbahn air scoops (not the fins) which ram air through the rad from the front so by reversing the fan direction when the fan cuts in it is not fighting against the air flow when you do get moving and thus drops the temperature a lot quicker. I have also got a lower temp fan switch to fit. I did most of this work as a precaution when i had two of the ways blanked off on the rad due to a split and fitted high comp pistons which cause a hotter engine. bike runs at a very nice 78 degrees now and if the fan cuts in drops like a stone.
some of the scoops were on ebay recently, well worth fitting.
