Jumping out of gear

Postby steelsey » Wed Oct 31, 2012 9:59 pm

Gave my SP1 a beating up a hill the other day and when I got to 5th gear and was about to shift to 6th, the bike jumped out of gear into a false neutral... Is this normal? any one else experienced it or am I on the verge of a gear box problem?

Send a PM to Merv (Speedytwin) - I think he's had the same issues on his SP1 in 3rd, and now it's completely shot. It may not be the same thing, but I don't know enough about mechanics to put your mind at rest :(

Cheers,

Jon.

had a similar thing on mine, and the sp1 and storm.... remedied by adjusting the shift lever.
seemed on fast changes i wasnt quite snicking the lever up far enough to engage the gear fully.

hasn done it again since. thank fk!

on the firestorm its a bit more than that... been told to check the selector drum for cleanliness (roger ditchfield) as its rare to find them worn but if theyre dirty it will do that.
under hard accel mine was dropping down a gear on its own!
sounds great but not if you pin it while exiting a bend and the fkin wheel comes up when youre not expecting it lol!

Top man, I think thats what i did to be honest. Big feet in Sidi Vortice boots equals little movement.... I might trade them in for some Alipnestars or dainese ones.
