Coolant change

Postby Jayboy » Tue Jan 24, 2012 1:27 pm

Can anyone point me in the right direction to a link / picture of the coolant drain bolt?
I found one somewhere but have now lost it.
Also, can I drain the coolant bottle / header tank without removing the L/H rad?

Lastly, any specific anti-freeze spec I need to adhere to? I have 2 different unused 1 Litre bottles, maybe should match up 2 the same? That should be enough mixed to 50/50 with distilled water shouldn't it?

Thanks in advance.

I found a manual online after I posted, cheers though. Got the info now....
Jees, I'm not paying out for 3 litres of that. I'm sure the stuff I've got will be fine, the way I look at all this stuff is that as long as it is new and you are changing it, it must be better than stuff of an unknown age, no matter of the "spec"

How you getting on with the back-end of the bike fella?

i wasted money on "Engine Ice" last year and didn't notice any difference :( . Before that i used Wilkinsons own brand with no issues. You can mix them as long as they are both ethylene based or propylene based. Don't mix the two types together though for the sake of your pride and joy get a good brand and use it alone.

Good point mate, I will check or get another one of either to match.

Well, that was particularly stressful in my opinion. Partly as I have to work at ground level in the garden, but jesus Honda, that cooling design really does take the piss.

Filler of R/H rad under the nose cone, coolant bottle behind the left rad etc. Why so difficult - thankfully it's not a job you have to do very much.
